I•D Pilates is well known for its high caliber of knowledgable instructors proficient in creating fun, dynamic workouts that build strong, flexible, pain-free bodies. Becoming a certified I•D Pilates instructor will provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to teach effective Pilates classes with special attention to alignment, form, and movement variety. The IDP teacher training uniquely combines a Classical Pilates base with a contemporary approach to biomechanics and preparing the body to progress through the method.  With our training you gain the ability to utilize the Pilates Method to improve posture and alignment, increase joint mobility, build strength, and promote overall health of mind + body. The I•D Pilates Teacher Training teaches you:

  • Anatomy and body mechanics
  • Principles of Pilates
  • Postural assessment and how to address misalignments
  • How to analyze and identify faulty movement patterns
  • How to work with special populations
  • Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Classical Pilates Repertoire
  • Contemporary Pilates exercises including fundamental movements and therapeutic exercises
  • Building blocks of each exercise and how to modify exercises to meet the needs of each individual
  • How to create personalized Pilates sessions based on individual needs
  • Efficient cueing techniques
  • How to develop effective group classes
  • How to help clients restore their alignment and ability to move their bodies freely and without pain

Teachers who have already completed a training at IDP or elsewhere are welcome to audit any module at a reduced rate of 30% of the price of the selected module. Contact us for more information on auditing.

Fundamentals + Mat

Becoming a Pilates instructor begins here. Learn anatomy, biomechanics, postural assessment, how to work with special populations, principles of Pilates, fundamental exercises, the classical Pilates mat exercises, and more. Virtual option now available; please specify your interest in attending virtually on your application.

Reformer

In the IDP Reformer Teacher Training you will learn the purpose and details of classical + contemporary Pilates Reformer exercises, effective cueing techniques, and how to build personal sessions and group classes. Our training provides ample time to practice and break down the exercises while honing your teaching skills.

Anatomy coursework

Chair

Teaching on the Pilates Chair, said to be the most challenging piece of Pilates equipment, will take your training to the next level. Learn the mechanics and purpose of classical + contemporary Chair exercises and how to work them into any mixed equipment or Chair-only session.

Trapeze Table (Cadillac)

The Trapeze Table is considered the Cadillac of all Pilates equipment. During the IDP Cadillac Teacher Training you will learn the mechanics and purpose of classic +contemporary Cadillac exercises and how to work them into a mixed equipment or Cadillac-only session. You will also be able to teach Tower classes after this training.

Barrels

Round out your Pilates training with the Barrels session. This session will focus on the Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Small/Half Barrel and how to use these tools to add variety, enhance spinal mobility, and challenge clients.

Comprehensive Certification

With the I•D Pilates Comprehensive Certification, you will be able to confidently train any client with dynamic and effective sessions and group classes with an immense variety of exercises on all of the most commonly used Pilates equipment. Students who pre-register for all sessions receive a discounted rate  for the certification.
