Joseph Pilates once said “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.” This message is especially important today. While the COVID-19 virus has made us close our doors, it has not stopped us from connecting with our community and continuing to do the thing that makes us feel amazing, Pilates! We have adapted all of our services to virtual or outdoor offerings so you still get the same great teachers and instruction while the studio is closed.

Virtual Private Sessions

If you are looking for more personal instruction and feedback, we continue to offer our signature private and duet sessions virtually. Each session will be designed specifically for your needs and goals and your instructor will guide you through movements and adjust your form so it is safe and effective for you. If you are new to Pilates and would like to participate in our group classes, setting up a private session first can help you prepare and get the most out of your class. Your instructor will assess your posture and movement habits, discuss your health history and goals, and suggest any modifications that you may need to make in your group classes.

Outdoor Pop-up Studio

Not into virtual sessions? No problem. You can now schedule a private session, duet, or small group class in your backyard, or the outdoor destination of your choice. Fill out this request form and we will contact you to schedule your session.

Long + Lean Pilates Online is the best way to experience Long + Lean Pilates classes anytime, anywhere. Our virtual fitness platform has a variety of classes from many of your favorite instructors available to rent or purchase. You can also become a member for unlimited access to all our videos, including exclusive content, plus a complimentary virtual private session.  There are videos ranging from full classes to a ten minute stretch to step-by-step tutorials of essential exercises and new content is added weekly!

Like many businesses, Long + Lean Pilates is currently closed in observation of public health and safety measures due to the outbreak of COVID-19. We miss our studio community and look forward to being together again soon. In the meantime, we want to help keep you moving at home!

 


Live Streaming Pilates Mat Classes

Starting Saturday March 21st, we are offering live streaming Pilates mat classes through Facebook Live. We will have live, full length classes streaming daily in a private Facebook group for you to enjoy as they happen or come back to at your convenience!

Access to the videos will be available via the private Facebook group. To join the group and participate in our live stream classes, you must purchase our new Online Membership for $45. The Online Membership gives you one month of unlimited access to all of the classes streaming daily. We will assess renewal options for the membership as needed.

Ready to get started? Here’s what to do next:

  1. Go to the Mindbody store to purchase the package, or send us an email to charge the card you have on file. In the Mindbody store, select the service category Small Group Classes, then Online Membership-Access Livestream Group. If you are unable to access your account through Mindbody or have any concerns, please contact us and we can call you to discuss your options.
  2. Make sure you have a Facebook account (you can make one with a fake name if you want!), then request to be added to the Long + Lean Pilates Online Studio private group. If your Facebook account name is something other than what we have in our system please let us know via email or Facebook messenger. 
  3. You will receive a follow-up email confirming your purchase and addition to the group, and will give you further instructions on next steps.

Posture is important for so many reasons. Not only does good posture help you look your best, it also helps your body function properly so you can feel your best. Having good posture means your body is aligned the way it should be so your joints can move, your muscles aren’t being overworked, you can breathe properly, and your organs can function the way they should.  Unfortunately, we live in a world that encourages poor posture and lacks opportunities for movement that improves posture, at least at the frequency we really need. In order to improve posture you should consider spending less time in chairs and less time on computers and mobile devices. You can also incorporate more standing and walking into your day and try to increase how often you bring your arms up over your head. You’ll be amazed at how beneficial simply reaching up and touching the tops of door frames throughout your day can be!

At L + L Pilates, a properly aligned body, with good posture, is always our number one goal. The following exercises are our absolute favorite, go-to exercises to help you achieve a properly aligned body and better upright posture. These are the Posture Essentials. Even on days you don’t have time to take a walk or do a full workout, find 3 minutes to do the following exercises and you’ll immediately feel your energy increase and your posture improve. These are all exercises you can do at home or in the office so they can be done throughout your day!
